Carolyn Park is a Korean/Spanish to English translator and PhD student in Linguistic Anthropology at UCLA. She studies intercultural communication between Korean and Spanish speaking restaurant workers in Koreatown. A heritage speaker of Korean and a second language learner of Spanish, she arrived at her research topic having spent a lifetime enmeshed in a family of Korean immigrant entrepreneurs.
As a translator, she has translated art criticism for Temblores Ediciones, subtitles for k-dramas, video games for Netmarble, webcomics for Tapas Media, and educational materials for a non-profit organization called Unlocking Silent Histories.
Carolyn has also worked as a ghost writer and as a writer/editor at a gallery based in Los Angeles. She has published art criticism through Sala de Arte Público Siquieros, La Tallera (SAPS), Baik Art, as well as the 18th Street Arts Center.
